Inspired by coastal cliffside villas and sun-soaked beaches, this piece evokes the spirit of Southern Italy—bright lemons and oranges, vivid skies, and the warmth of the salty sea.
Originally painted in acrylic in 2020 as a completely different scene, the work sat untouched for years. The year before moving to Sweden, in 2024, I returned to it, responding to the existing forms and layering oil paint with palette knives over the acrylic base. Italy emerged—unexpectedly, and yet fittingly, as I later found myself here.
This painting holds special meaning for me: it’s a reminder that vision can take time to reveal itself, that reinvention is always possible, and that sometimes our intuition knows where we’re headed before we do.
